About the Role
As Coordinator Finance Business Partnering , reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead a high performing team, with responsibility for:
- Leading Council's Finance Business Partnering model, building strong relationships with Managers and Coordinators to support budget forecasting and future planning
- Managing and leading the preparation and regular review of Council's Annual Budget, Long Term Financial Plan and Fees and Charges
- Providing financial advice, analysis and regular reporting to Council officers to support improved decision-making, collaboration and financial performance
- Ensuring the accurate recording of financial transactions, and the identification and mitigation of financial risk
- Maintaining a compliant and accurate accounting system, and liaising with Audit Office NSW and other external auditors
- Developing and delivering training programs in Council's financial systems, policies and procedures
- Coordinating the Management Accounting team's employee lifecycle, including goal setting, mentoring and professional development
The role will have a focus on continuously reviewing and improving Council's financial processes, policies and systems, implementing best practice and leveraging technology to optimise financial services operations, while safeguarding Council's ongoing financial sustainability.
About You
This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional to make a genuine impact within local government. You will hold a Degree in Finance or Business (accounting Major) together with a current CPA, or other relevant qualification, and bring a minimum of five years' experience in a financial analysis or accounting role. Previous experience within the local government sector is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as is a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to drive change through policy, procedural and system improvement. High attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines, will be critical to your success.
