They are currently seeking an experienced financial accountant to join their team for 3-6 months, temporarily to assist with with backlog and end of year audits.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilise Council’s financial accounting systems (including loans, assets and taxation) to ensure that the data is kept up to date, and to ensure legislative compliance and the accurate and timely lodgement of Council’s statutory reports and returns including reconciliation and lodgement of BAS and payroll tax returns.
- Contribute to all end-of-year processes including the reconciliation of all applicable accounts, the calculation and processing of year-end accruals and journals, and the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements, schedules and statutory returns in readiness for the end-of-year audit.
- Partner with business units to assist and improve financial outcomes and implement best practice
- Assist in reviewing the accounting officers’ reconciliations and returns.
- Support engagement with Council internal and external auditors to progress the successful completion of all audit engagements including any ad-hoc, interim, and end of year audits, as and when required.
- Support and supervise the management of Council’s Grants Register to ensure the timely receipt of all available grant funds, and the compliance with funding obligations.
