The Company

Our client has been shaping Australia’s built environment for over 20 years. With $3.7B worth of projects delivered and a pipeline of over 130 sites and 157 projects nationally, they are a high-performing, entrepreneurial business with strong financial backing and no reliance on joint ventures.

Their portfolio spans childcare, townhomes, mixed-use retail, large format retail, service stations, and land subdivisions.  With offices in VIC, QLD and WA, and expansion into NSW and SE QLD underway, this group continues to grow rapidly.

They offer a culture of agility, open decision-making and career progression. With South Yarra offices, standard 9–5 hours and flexibility for school drop-offs, they balance performance with lifestyle.

The Role
We are seeking a Senior Draftsperson to take ownership of the front-end design function, initially focused on childcare projects before progressing into townhomes. This role will act as the control point for design standards and consistency, ensuring buildable, cost-effective outcomes across multiple projects.

You will:
  • lead the design process from concept stage through to Planning Approval stage.
  • Prepare and deliver DA sets (approx. 20 per year) and handle RFI’s, amendments and submissions
  • Create and maintain design templates for consistency across projects
  • Collaborate with internal development teams to improve design standards, efficiencies, and reduce development programs.
  • Work across 5–6 projects simultaneously, with a focus on volume delivery
  • Set the external design direction for the “look and feel” of centres and homes

What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Minimum 5 years’ design experience with childcare exposure or similar, ideally.
  • In depth understanding of construction methodology, techniques, and functional design;
  • Ability to apply a sound commercial mindset to design methodology;
  • Motivated to be working in a team environment working with internal development teams and inhouse construction.
  • Background as a Senior Draftsperson or similar, with strong drafting/design skills
  • Proficient in ArchiCAD;
  • On-the-tools drawing experience across varied project types notably ELC and MD;
  • Strong understanding of Town Planning, BCA, and BAL requirements;
  • Autonomous, detail-driven, and able to manage high-volume project delivery

What You’ll Get in Return
  • Attractive salary package
  • South Yarra location 5 days with 9–5 hours and flexibility around family commitments
  • Exposure to a diverse pipeline including childcare, townhomes, mixed-use retail and land subdivisions
  • A dynamic, entrepreneurial, motivated culture where decisions are made quickly and innovation is encouraged
  • Leadership potential to grow and manage a small design team in future
